Old rides - Ford Escort

Many many moons ago I had this escort van, can't remember how much I brought it for (wasn't much).
It belonged to a friend who had given up on it, the front was cut off, motor didn't go and well, generally untidy.

The photo on the left is roughly how I got it. The photo on the right is how it ended up. These are the only two pictures I have left of this van; floods and photos don't go well together.

The motor was a Ford 1600cc engine; the paint was white, grey and black. I actually cheated on the paint, I had no grey and ran out of white so the grey was primer, I just clear lacquered over it, the rest was dulon paint, rostyle rims (factory mag wheels) with pretty much standards interior.
Never really drove this much, but did end up spinning a main bearing and sold it like that.

One of the memories I have of this van is trying to get it running on the front lawn. The van was in the 'how I got it stage' so was starting it through the windscreen hole. Finally got it started but then the choke cable stuck on as it jumped into gear. The van took off through the flower garden and into the neighbours fence. I quickly pushed the van back onto our section, lifted the fence up and tidied up the garden. It had broken the fence but luckily stayed in one piece so I pretended nothing had happened. My heart was going ninety-nine to the dozen (figure of speech) but to this day no one knows the fence is only just sitting there - until now.
